He who fears Death lives in fear all of his days, he who seeks Death will not live many days. Seen many years ago on the helmet of a fellow Marine.

  • I believe it was Charles DeGaul at President Kennedy's funeral who said, "he who lives in fear of death is dead already."

  • "Do we want to live because we really do believe in an after-life, and know our life falls short of any judgment to come?"

For my part, I truly hope this is all there is. Because if there's an afterlife, and judgement to come... I'm hosed.

  • ididntdoit:

There's always time to turn around. Judgement may just be that you have to be in the presence of others who know all that you did wrong. No one really knows until they are there. Might help to have some positive points on your tally. It's easy to put off thinking about the afterlife when you think your life is going to be a long one yet, but you know the saying about there being no athiests in a foxhole. If you beleive when there's a crisis, He's still there when there isn't one, even if you try to ignore Him.

    Have a good day

  • "And inasmuch as it is appointed for men to die once and after this comes judgment, so Christ also, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time for salvation without reference to sin, to those who eagerly await Him." Heb 9:27-28

  • Hope and happiness drives the fight for life. I guess it's what you hope for and what makes you happy that makes you want to stick around.
