My "escape"

Posted Tuesday, August 5, 2008, at 11:49 AM

I, like most people, enjoy a good "escape."

I open a book and close off the world around me. I get sucked into a world of fantasy and suspense.

I am transported to an island in the pacific, laying on the beach with the perfect tan and enjoying a glass of sweet tea.

Or I am the heroine who is trying to take out the evil demon who is destroying parts of the city.

I could also be an undercover agent that works for a multi-million dollar company and I am trying to steal the information that could be viable for curing global warming.

I am a vampire that is lurking in the night waiting for my dinner to approach.

My favorite is probably becoming the captain of a spaceship in another galaxy and making life or death decisions that have an impact on the future of space exploration.

I know all of this probably sounds silly, but I love to curl up with a good book and a glass of sweet tea just so I can get lost in the story.

I've tried to write a novel. Inevitably, my mind becomes all jumbled up and I can't sort through all the different plot lines and summaries going through my head. So when I sit down and read a story, I become envious of the author and the dramatic plot that is written. But still I read and become addicted to the story that for a short while, will take me away from my life of laundry, dishes and deadlines.

Reading is my passion. It relieves stress and provides me with entertainment. I couldn't live without books.

I encourage everyone who reads this to sit down with a good book and get lost in it.

Who knows, maybe one of you will become the author I dream of becoming.

I recieved this today and I thought you all could understand.........LOL

Wonderful New Product

Announcing the new Built-in Orderly Organized Knowledge device, otherwise known as the BOOK.

It's a revolutionary breakthrough in technology: no wires, no electric circuits, no batteries, nothing to be connected or switched on. It's so easy to use even a child can operate it. Just lift its cover. Compact and portable, it can be used anywhere -- even sitting in an armchair by the fire -- yet it is powerful enough to hold ass much information as a CD-ROM disk.

Here's how it works: each BOOK is constructed of sequentially numbered sheets of paper (recyclable), each capable of holding thousands of bits of information. These pages are locked together with a custom-fit device called a binder which keeps the sheets in their correct sequence. By using both sides of each sheet, manufacturers are able to cut costs in half.

Each sheet is scanned optically, registering information directly into your brain. A flick of the finger takes you to the next sheet. The BOOK may be taken up at any time and used by merely opening it. The "Browse" feature allows you to move instantly to any sheet, and move forward or backward as you wish. Most come with an "index" feature, which pinpoints the exact location of any selected information for instant retrieval.

An optional "BOOKmark" accessory allows you to open the BOOK to the exact place you left it in a previous session -- even if the BOOK has been closed. BOOKmarks fit universal design standards; thus a single BOOKmark can be used in BOOKs by various manufacturers.

Portable, durable and affordable, the BOOK is the entertainment wave of the future, and many new titles are expected soon, due to the surge in popularity of its programming tool, the Portable Erasable-Nib Cryptic Intercommunication Language stylus [PENCIL].

Reading is FUNdamental.......LOL!

I, too, enjoy a good book. Reading has provided many hours of enjoyment when there was nothing else to do and the "escape" from present situations.

Just finished _Breaking Dawn_ then? If not, you should be reading it; but only if you've already read _Twilight_, _New Moon_, and _Eclipse_. Just don't start when you're supposed to be working or you won't get your work accomplished. Then go to an online community and start writing your own story and reading others. Inspiring. And yes nice to get away for awhile. Like taking a vacation right in your own home.
