My Family

Life is a difficult journey. Things happen that we can't explain and we are lucky to have family that we can rely on. I am very fortunate to have a father that would give me his last breath, a sister who will fight for me and a brother who would give his life for me. I have a boyfriend who is there for me whenever I need him no matter the problem and some amazing sorority sisters who are there for me cheering me on towards my goals.

Over the weekend I helped to move my brother and sister move into college. Part of the joys of staying in the Terre Haute area after I graduated was being able to see my sisters when they moved back into the dorms on campus. All of those women became my family while I was at school and I have missed them so much. It was a great joy listening to them tell stories and pass jokes amongst each other. I have missed these women and all the random things that they say and do. They even told me how they have been reading my articles and my blog. I was so overwhelmed with their support and love that I cried.

One of my greatest experiences was college, my happiest memories was sitting in my dorm room playing guitar hero, or watching Audrey Hepburn movies, or hanging Christmas lights, painting the window and cleaning the main suite. I even miss Greek move-in.

I miss the music from preference and the secrets that are revealed during initiation. I miss the practice rounds from formal recruitment. I miss the laughter from my sisters as we eat dinner together. I miss comparing notes during chapter and helping everyone remember their lines.

I am still a Gamma Phi Beta; I wear pearls around my neck with honor, carry my pink carnation for luck and love the brown and mode until the day I die. No matter what happens in life I will always have my sisters there for me and I will always be there for them. I wish my sisters the best of luck for an amazing year and I am so proud an honored to have each and every single one of them.
