I just want it to be over

As Americans, we are given a right that so many other countries deny to their citizens. We are given the choice to vote. Any man or woman over the age of 18 who is registered and is a citizen of the United States can vote. Every two to four years we sit around our TV's or at local diners and talk politics. Everyone develops an opinion or belief. The population goes to the polls and casts their ballot.
Usually after this event has taken place, I always feel a great deal of accomplishment. I haven't missed an election yet, neither have my parents or my grandparents. However, this year I am ready for Election Day to be over. I am ready for the campaign adds to stop, I am tired of only reading things that have to do with candidates and their track records and I am tired of the constant bombardment of emails. I like so many people, am burnt out. No one is perfect, I know I am not, and things happen in this world that we do not understand. So why do so many people expect the officials who are running for office to be perfect? I'm not trying to cause an outrage, or a political discussion to develop on my blog. I really don't want to argue politics with anyone, this is just my perception and my feelings. I will be casting my early vote on Nov. 1. I will enjoy the freedom that as an American I am give the right to do. I will stare at a ballot and consider my future, and the future of the children that I see in the elementary schools. I will consider the fact that I have family and friends fighting in Iraq, with no idea when they will be home. I will also look to the views and beliefs of the candidates. I don't know who will win the election, I don't know what the future will bring. I just know that I will do my part to be an educated voter. I will vote and my little voice will be heard amidst the crowd. I'm just ready for it to be over. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

I too, am ready for it to be over. I do not like the ugliness of either party. Why can't they just say what they will do and not bash the other guy? I will be glad when Tuesday is over and we enter a new era!
Sassy ~ you said a mouthful there ~ I don't like any mudslinging of any kind in this election ~ & there sure has been a bunch of it at all levels!!
I, too, am ready for it to be over. I am tired of the same things everyone else is tired of. I have worked in the polls since I was 18 years old. Here in my county, we still have paper ballots and I count votes. I have worked the election for 31 years. Oops! Told my age.
I will be glad for it to be over as well. I don't think I have seen this much negativity from either party in a long time. I don't think any of this is good for the country. Times are tough and people should be sticking together not poking at each other with sharp sticks saying how bad the other guy is. Our unity in tough times is what made America great. I am not seeing that unity as a nation now.
Not starting any political comments just pointing out something I see.
I have to agree. but then, some of you think that I'm a bit "off the wall" when I'm fighting for what I believe in. But I fight with facts. I don't call names or put words in my opponent's mouths. I give you references that you can check.
I've recieved countless e-mails from both camps bashing the presidential candidates.I check them out on snopes.com, then follow the leads that I find there. 95% of what I've been sent has not been true and about four percent is what I would have done had I been in the position under the same circumstances. I only disagreed with the action about 1% of the time with any of the candidates. That makes my vote this election a hard decision.
I, too, will be glad when it is over.
