Thank YouPosted Monday, January 19, 2009, at 3:49 PM
I am the type of person that has faith and belief in a brighter tomorrow by working hard for it. If you have met me in person then you have probably noticed that I can be "annoyingly" happy. I usually have a smile on my face (except when I am shoveling snow) and I am usually in a good mood. I am pretty much a ball of energy! Don't get me wrong, I still get upset and stress about problems, but I am developing the skills to handle it better.
Recently I made the decision to go back to school. (Yes, I am working fulltime and going to school fulltime.) This semester I am taking a sociology class, one of my assignments was to watch a video (http://www.miniature-earth.com/) and write my response to it. The video is actually semi interesting and it did cause me to think, especially when recent events really hit home. There are people in this world who don't hesitate to help a stranger in need. Recently my boyfriend's car overheated. While the temperature dropped into the negatives, he was stuck in a car that was the same temperature as the blistering cold outside. When the car cooled down to the point where he could get it a few miles to the nearest gas station, just to cool down again. He went inside to warm up. The women that were behind the counter gave him free hot chocolate and a pair of gloves. They didn't have to help him, but they did. Eventually he did make it home, it only took a few horrendous hours. But during his very long story that he told me in detail, later when I was done with work, he stopped and paused. He told me about the kindness of these two women who neither one of us know. To these two women, thank you, you showed kindness to my boyfriend when he needed it. To Mike Green, Ryan's coworker who drove all the way to Marshall Ill., the next day so Ryan could work in Brazil and take me to work, thank you. Often times in life things happen that are beyond our control, like a car overheating and damaging a gasket when it is below freezing out. Sometimes, amidst all of the craziness a few people extend their hand with something simple that can mean so much. |
