My cousins

During the weekend, I visited with my grandmother. I also spent a large amount of time with my aunt and uncle. As much as I loved spending time with the adults, I must say it was the three little blonde hair, blue-eyed boys that made my visit memorable. My younger cousins are all 5 years old or younger and all three are so full of energy that watching them run around exhausted me.

In the course of an hour, they spilled four glasses of milk, two glasses of water, they pulled apart the dining room table, then tried to put it back together and in the process almost smashed their fingers, they ran around the house to get away from mommy and the pajamas in hopes of avoiding bed time.

The youngest of the three boys got his head stuck between the legs of the dining room table (I honestly think the other boys may have helped with that idea). There were crayons and coloring books and toys. All three of them wanted to go outside and play, of course they were told no, but they tried anyway.

There was even one point when the oldest tried to "wrestle" with me. I won't lie, the reaction on his face was priceless when I picked him up off the ground and threatened him with a swirly.

Both my aunt and uncle said they were the best type of birth control, and I laughed. Then they asked me if I would baby-sit next weekend and I declined, but I told them to talk to my recently engaged brother and sister. I figure if both of them and their significant others spend one afternoon babysitting the boys, it will help them to decide if they are really ready for the responsibility of a family.

Though I am not in any hurry to settle down and have a family, spending the afternoon with my cousins has definitely helped to put off the notion of children a little longer. I won't deny however that when I left and the youngest little boy gave me a hug and a kiss. My heart swelled a little. (The other boys gave me high-fives, I guess hugs aren't the cool thing anymore.)

Even though those little boys caused enough havoc that a small army would be impressed, they somehow weaseled their way into my heart, spilled milk and all.
