We get what we deserve in the end.Posted Monday, September 28, 2009, at 5:12 PM
I was raised to have very strong moral convictions. I was taught that life is precious and we should treasure the gifts we are given.
I was raised in a very loving home with two parents that doted on me. I was encouraged to be active in extra-curricular activities and my education was always first. I am very fortunate because not all children have the same support system I had. While browsing through other media outlets I came across a story, which caused my blood to "run cold." Apparently a young couple was arrested for, I'll phrase this nicely, causing harm to their baby. Now I am not against spanking. Both of my parents made sure all three of their children were spanked. But I also believe there is a big difference between being spanked and abuse. For instance a baby in the hospital with numerous broken bones, a baby that is still a newborn, and has numerous broken bones, is in my opinion abuse. I am a firm believer in the Criminal Justice System. It was my second major in college. No, I realize the system is not perfect. One of my professors once told us to view it as a person, over the course of the years it changes and evolves to meet the needs of society. I do believe that people are innocent until proven guilty and I do believe if you did the crime then you should do the time or pay the fine. I however also believe that anyone that is willing to hurt an innocent child though will one day have to answer for the deeds they have done. Whether guilty or innocent in a court of law, whether it is in front of God or if it is good old fashion karma, I believe we get what we deserve in the end.
