A squirrelly incidentPosted Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 3:29 PM
I, like many people, have had about as much as I can take of the white stuff. I have nothing against snow; I actually enjoy it at Christmas. There is nothing like waking up Christmas morning to a winter wonderland. But this isn't December, it's February.
I have started a new tradition when it snows. Each morning I go to clean off my car and sing The Beach Boys song "Kokomo" in my head. I think part of me is trying to subconsciously warm my hands and my feet. But no matter my reasoning, it helps pass the time. On Monday, while scraping off my car I had a bit of a surprise when I felt snow slide down my back inside of my jacket. Looking around for a neighborhood child who may have been the culprit, I had another round take the same path down my back. At this point I was a little upset, mind you I was standing in snow which had some how managed to get into my shoes, even with gloves on my hands were frozen and now my back was wet and cold. Cold, wet and aggravated, I began to stalk back into the house when I heard a noise. As I turned around and looked at the spot I was in, I noticed snow falling out of the trees and it was at that point that I saw three squirrels playing on the branches. When I began to walk away they had started playing. Laughing at myself for my silliness, I took a few extra minutes to watch the squirrels play while I was safely inside my warm car.
