My new hobbyPosted Tuesday, May 25, 2010, at 1:38 PM
I have recently picked up a new hobby. First, let me tell you how it happened.
A few months ago, I went to the Crop for the Cure at Rose Hulman. I talked with Kae Smith, who is the organizer for the event and a secretary at one of the local elementary schools. She was so excited about getting the word out and encouraging people to attend, I felt like I had to go to understand her enthusiasm. So I decided to cover the story for the newspaper. Besides I live in Terre Haute, not going would've been silly. That morning, it was raining out and I couldn't understand why women were carrying luggage and storage containers in the rain into the building. When I walked into the room where the event was being held, I was a little surprised. There were hundreds of people with those cases and I felt completely out of my element. Between Kae and Pat Krider, I eventually got an idea of what was going on. Then I met some more people from the area and they showed me different pages as well as techniques. I thought to myself, I could do this. About two weeks later, I went shopping and I began working on my first book. Now I'm still new and I'm learning more everyday. I'm also finding my own inspiration, which is nice. However, I have reached that point where I have so much stuff it is time for me to break down and get containers and organizers for all of it. I am now going to be one of those women with the wheels and containers ... oh goodness! I am proud of myself, I haven't bought anything at full price yet and I don't plan on it. So if you see me out at the local craft stores, I'm looking for some bargains and some containers. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
