Family Reunion

I spent another glorious weekend with my family. One of the joys of going home every weekend is making plans with my grandmother. This weekend we made the rounds at the yard sales and the dollar stores. Though we made all the rounds and accomplished those goals, I also hit another milestone.

I officially have a copy of my grandmother's recipe book. All of her favorite and my grandfather's favorite recipes are in it. She gladly entrusted the book to me so that I may copy the recipes to have for my own home. Though there are a few that I know are beyond my culinary skill, the majority of them I can handle.

Once a year my grandmother's extended family gets together and we have a family reunion. This year I gladly pigged out on the great expanse of food. My cousin said it best when she described family reunions, "it's like having 30 grandmas cooking."

Even though it is hot outside and the cool temperatures won't be here until October. It was still nice to sit outside in the sunshine with family.
