Lewis Township Fire Department 6--10 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, Instructor In-Service Certification Training classes will be held 6--10 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 25, at the Lewis Township Fire Department, Coalmont, Ind. The purpose of these seminars is to inform certified Instructor I and Instructor II/IIIs about the Board rules. In addition, we will demonstrate the proper way to complete paperwork required for certification. The evaluator roles and the techniques used to conduct an evaluation will also be presented. This four-hour Instructor Workshop will feature staff from the Indiana Department of Homeland Security Firefighter Training System in partnership with the Indiana Fire Instructors Association. They will discuss important topics for certified Instructors who want to improve their ability to instruct, evaluate and comply with the rules as established by the Board of Firefighting Personnel Standards and Education. Specific Topics to be covered include: * Board rules what is expected of the Lead Instructor, * Board rules for the lead evaluator, * Conducting and organizing a student evaluation examination, * Developing a training needs analysis, * What happens when you are audited, and * How to properly complete State paperwork. This workshop will meet or exceed the requirements for recertification in the adult continuing education category for four-hour credit.
