Extra Halloween tips

Posted Wednesday, October 29, 2008, at 2:20 PM

With Halloween only a couple of days away, safety becomes an important issue for families.

I would like to add a few safety tips to the other blogs by Police Chiefs Dave Archer and Terry Skaggs.

Please know where you and your children are going to trick-or-treat and only visit neighborhoods and homes that you are familiar with.

Be aware of your surroundings while walking and driving around the area.

While most of the area towns and cities in the county have established trick-or-treat times, there are no set hours in the rural areas of county. We suggest following the established hours of the city or town closest to where you live.

There will be Halloween treats available at the Clay County Justice Center starting Thursday evening until the end of trick-or-treating hours in Brazil Friday.

Please be safe this holiday,

Sheriff Michael W. Heaton

Thanks for another safety blog ~ we'll be sure to stop in the Justice Center after we visit the Brazil Fire Department ~ Thanks for the treats in advance!

What a terrific way to help children meet and greet with police officers and fire department personnel.

I wish I had little ones to stop by with, it would be a great time to say "Thank You" for all the good work the BIG BAD BOYS of Clay County do for us!

Thank you, Sheriff Heaton for inviting the public into the Justice Center for Halloween ~ my girls enjoyed their visit chatting with your receptionist last evening ~ & yes, they also enjoyed the treats ~ especially the message on the suckers ~ it was the first thing they both noticed ~ if we, as adults, keep putting the message to "Say NO to Drugs" in front of our youngsters enough ~ maybe we will win the battle ~

Look forward to your next blog ~
