Lemonade anyone?
Posted Saturday, August 15, at 7:12 AM
I have come to the point in my life when I don't care what anyone thinks about me.

I have learned that people judge others by their looks. Some of the nicest and sweetest people are the ones that most won't be friends with because they are covered in piercings or tattoos are like in my case, they have their hair dyed bright colors.

Everyone is their own person and how they choose to dress is their own business.

As a kid and teen, you worry about what people think of you and you are taught to act and look a certain way. I do understand the point some people make about tattoos when they say, "are you going to want to look like that when you are older," and I say to each their own.

What may be good for me may not be for other people.

It's the same concept as what's good for your children may not be good for mine.

My family is very non-traditional. What I mean by that is, I teach my kids to give me their opinion and to dress how they want no matter what others think.

My kids know they can't have piercings until they are 18 or at the age I think that they fully understand their choices.

Piercings close but tattoos are forever and they need to think them through carefully. I teach them hair grows back and hair color or clothes don't make the person. What's inside does.

I homeschool my kids in a setting that teaches them to be themselves. They mind and behave like kids are supposed too but in my house, they give me their opinion and I consider that in my decisions, but ultimately, I do what I think is best for them.

My point to this blog is next time you see someone and you have a thought pop into your head about them, instead of pointing out all of the nice things you like about them and compliment them on it.

I may not like something about someone, but I do my best not to judge them (I am human). Instead, I point out what I like about them and think to myself that I may say or do things that people don't like about me, but I don't want to be judged, just like they don't want to be either.

What I meant by I am human is I am still learning and I will always be learning as long as I am alive. So I make mistakes and I learn from them every day I wake up and try to be a better person than I was the day before because everyday is a new day and no one is perfect.

Life is what you make of it and when life gives you lemons, instead of throwing them at the people you think are mean, ask yourself why the person is mean and take them a glass of lemonade and see if you can brighten their day.

Who caused all the panic?
Posted Monday, May 4, at 1:10 PM

With the recent swine flu scare or what they now call H1N1, it makes me wonder. I think the media caused a panic, when it wasn't necessary. I know it was wise to be cautious but first they were saying that many people were dying from it and then people were recovering from it...

Warm weather adventures
Posted Friday, March 20, at 7:14 AM

The weather has been so nice lately it's hard to stay home. For those of you who don't know me, I am not a girly girl and I love being outside in nice weather. It's refreshing and stress relieving. My latest warm weather adventures included dragging my dad and kids to all over creation. (My dad doesn't mind and the kids love it)...

Tips
Posted Wednesday, March 4, at 7:24 AM

I thought I would share some tips I have been taught by various people in my life. They are not only earth friendly but save you money on bills as well. I have simplified my life in ways not many understand. I agree it's more time consuming this way and that some would not go this far, but for me and my family, it's perfect for us...

We a a society have always been bombarded by commercials about kids in other countries who are starving and need our money. Now, don't get me wrong, but I would like everyone to stop and think about all the people in the United States that are starving and have basic needs that are not being met...

Environmentally friendly
Posted Wednesday, February 11, at 3:32 PM

I have come to realize that with the recent economy, many people are going more environmentally friendly. I have always been somewhat environmentally friendly, but in the last year, I have made many improvements. I now use reusable bags only and I strive to buy or use more earth-friendly products...

Time for change
Posted Thursday, January 22, at 7:16 PM

There are many websites devoted to going green and being more earth and body healthy. I am all for being more environmentally friendly, but to me, it goes way beyond that. I am a believer in being more mind and body friendly as well. I admit that fast food is tempting, but I am doing so much better than I used to...

My thoughts about our great country
Posted Thursday, January 15, at 7:14 AM

I usually write about being positive and looking at the good. However, I am a little discouraged. I was looking at a newspaper article about a mom and dad who have three kids together and are not married, but will someday. As I scanned the comments, I was shocked that some people can be so narrow minded...

Perfect really isn't perfect
Posted Tuesday, January 6, at 3:17 PM

I am one of those people that put lots of time and any spare money I have into making my house look nice. I do realize that no matter how hard I try, not everyone will like my style when it comes to decor and colors. I am a thrifty shopper so I get more for my money when it comes to decorations and furniture...

The way it used to be
Posted Friday, January 2, at 11:36 AM

What happened to the days when people settled disputes by just going to other person and just speaking up and saying what's on your mind. Not that I condone violence bit what about when people settled disputes by duking it out until it was over then they shook hands and it was over...
