Who caused all the panic?

Posted Monday, May 4, 2009, at 1:10 PM

With the recent swine flu scare or what they now call H1N1, it makes me wonder.

I think the media caused a panic, when it wasn't necessary.

I know it was wise to be cautious but first they were saying that many people were dying from it and then people were recovering from it.

Many people that I know have been sick with some sort of flu and haven't died. Not everyone runs to the doctor or hospital when they have the flu, since it usually runs its course.

I am not saying don't go to the doctor or hospital because sometimes, they are necessary.

I am saying that today's society runs to a doctor way too fast. Many people today have pills for everything. Let's say you use benadryl all the time for allergies, etc., and then one day, you need it, but it's not as effective.

I am not saying don't use it when you need it.

The H1N1 virus has caused a panic especially in places where they say it's confirmed to be. Why not carry around sanitizer all the time?

I carry around sanitizer all the time and I use it to wipe down restaurant high chairs for my youngest. I also use them to wipe down public toilet seats for my kids and for when they flush public toilets, since so many nasty germs hide there. However, this being said, I don't use antibacterial soap at home because they need to be exposed to some bacteria to keep their immune system working healthy so their bodies naturally fight off germs.

What I am saying in this blog is that now if you were to have a medical emergency, it wold be a long wait because when the media sets in panic, all the hypocondriacs now have a new illness to add to their list of complaints.

No, I am not putting them down. I am just saying maybe this could have been handled differently.

This same thing happened when the media got ahold of the bird flu information and in some cities, that cause panic as well.

My theory is that if it's your time, then you're going no matter what you try to do to prevent it.

I may not be religious, but I am spiritual, and I do believe that there is a reason for everything.

I do admit sometimes I wonder what that reason is, but who doesn't sometimes?

So instead of panicking about getting H1N1 and dying, how about going out and living your life to the fullest?

Do today what you would if you knew it was your last day.

Well people are dead from this in Mexico...but there are several differences. First in health insurance. When people in US think they have a deadly flu they can go get tamaflu. A medication that lessens the symptoms.

Another reason some think that this strain is hitting younger people instead of older ones is that many of the older people were immunized for swine flu in the US in 1976 when it was here before....maybe there is some residual protection left?

I think this strain of flu popping up right now is a great warning sign to those who make vaccines so it will be in the fall 2009 flu vaccine AND that all of us need to be vaccinated. I'll bet this strain makes a big showing NEXT winter.

I dont think you are getting the point ....the point was not saying no one in mexico died from it the point was get off your butt and live life cause you never know when you are going to die and i doubt its from the flu.

Yes I got the point...You never know when you might get hit by a train or stroke etc so why be so fearful of the swine flu...

I just wanted to point out yet another reason not to be so fearful...it's turning out not to be even as bad as they thought but still be vigilant and get immunized before flu season next year.

It's a balance of making wise choices in several areas. Trust in God but also use the brain he gave us to make those choices. Live your life but put preventative measures into place as well to hedge our bets. Have a good day.

They explained some people in Mexico are without health care, and their immune systems are already in poor shape and can't handle any thing else, thats why they sometimes die from the flu that would not be so harmful to us. I will keep getting a flu shot, but why can't they take the aluminum out of it, seems like every fall Americans get a dose from the flu shot, where does the line get drawn before they attribute it to alzheimers. I would rather have the flu now that I think about it, at least I could still recognize my family.

I believe they have restudied the aluminum connection and now don't believe it "encourages" Alzheimers.

I am equally as bugged by the aluminum, mercury, formaldehyde and embryonic tissues from fetuses they use in these vaccines as "preservatives". This is the cause of the "Green Our Vaccines" movement that has shown overwhelming evidence that vaccines are the cause of Autism and Alzheimer's as well. Not everything the drug companies produce is safe. I think we have seen that time and time again, especially here recently. I will be hesitant to allow a syringe full of experimental gook in my veins.

Call it paranoia if you will, be there is a point where one can be too trusting with no evidence to be.

People die from the flu EVERY YEAR. The only difference is the press trying to divert our attention from what is going on with our government. The numbers are not great per capita with this "swine flu" (give it a name that will draw your attention), it is no more a threat than any flu we get during the regular flu season. Just hype by the left leaning media.

Amen Conservative Dad!!!!

Also add my Amen to that, I just heard they, whomever they are, have persuaded obama to change his mind and not release the pictures of Americans obtaining information from TERROSISTS, they convinced him releasing the pictures and videos might cause anti American sentiment and escalate attacks on our Servicemen and women, as well as citizens. How good do you feel about obama that he needed convincing on this matter, sound like he's in the correct corner ? Not at all, that sounds like a tactic the taliban would use, not the suggestion of a U.S. President.
