Chili for CharityPosted Tuesday, September 21, 2010, at 2:43 PM
The Clay County Popcorn Festival and the Law Office of Charles Hear are sponsoring a chili cookoff at the Cow Palace Pavilion in Forest Park on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2010, from 2-4:30 p.m. One Hundred percent of the proceeds will be donated to Riley's Children's Hospital, Burn Unit.
It is a no-holds barred people's choice competition. The entrants with the most donations will be awarded first-, second- and third-place trophies. The competition is open to individuals and groups alike. Each competitor will be permitted to promote themselves or their group.
There are plenty of chili cooks who think that their chili is the best. Who will have the nerve to step up?
Will the Optimists, Rotary, and Kiwanis have the nerve to face off against each other? Will there be trash talk between the Moose, Eagles, and Elks? Will Northview and Clay City have a throw down? Will the football or basketball teams dare to face the Marching Knights? Will Pappy square off against Mario, Page's vs. Kroger, Walgreens vs. CVS? Will you challenge your neighbor?
Come one come all! Lets see who has the biggest kidney beans! The chili is warm.
Participants will have to register in advance and pay a $10 registration fee. Registrations are currently available in The Brazil Times. Participants will be expected to provide two gallons of their best chili for the assembled masses to sample. Due to potential limited access to electricity, participants are encouraged to cook or warm over propane.
Participants are permitted to raise funds prior to the start of the event to put into their donation bucket. Remember, all proceeds will be donated to Riley's Children's Hospital.
