Big City Travels

A cool pic I took of the Marilyn Monroe statue in downtown Chicago.
I never realized how therapeutic a mini-vacation could be until I took one this past weekend.

Jeff and I traveled to Chicago for my Singing Bee audition, and I visited a very good friend of mine while we were there.

I got to see where she lives and goes to school now, at Roosevelt University. It was good to see her and become more familiar with her surroundings.

I experienced the joys and pains of the urban train transportation system. I have to say I was a little frightened. It was very nerve racking, but my worries proved to be just a case of empty paranoia.

We went sightseeing Saturday night, and besides the artic frost bite that numbed my legs, I enjoyed myself more than I had in a long time.

Being from rural beginnings, I never thought I would like the city as much as I did, but I think being there for a short time was part of the reason for this.

We went "skate figuring" in Millenium Park Sunday afternoon, and the night before we went shopping around the Magnificant Mile.

We scarfed down all we could eat at the TGIF and were served room service the next morning by the wonderful staff of the JW Marriot in downtown Chicago.

The bathrooms in our hotel were about the same size as my living room at home.

It was so nice to feel like royalty for a day or two.

I also saw the famous mirror bean, and Jeff wrote a loving message for me on its under belly.

I am still exhausted and in need of rejuvenation, but it was definitely the trip of a lifetime that will never be forgotten.

I really loved spending the quality time with Jeff and Anna, and discovering new adventures block after block.
