Welcome to My World

Hello, my name is Jessica Stacy, maiden name Stephens. I am going to be writing a blog here at thebraziltimes.com! I am exited about this opportunity, so let me tell you a little about myself, in case you don't know me.

I am from around here, born and lived in Terre Haute until my dad, Dr. Jim Stephens, had to go on to IUPUI for medical school, and then we moved to Indy for about seven years. When he was completely through with everything we moved back down here and my family has been here ever since, pretty much. I have one brother, Jim Stephens, and a nephew, Jimmy, both in Terre Haute.

My daughter and I did relocate for my work back in 2000 to Zionsville, where she attended Zionsville High School and was active as a varsity cheerleader and a diver. She, and my now, stepdaughter, introduced me to my husband Arlie Stacy. I worked for Dow AgroSciences as an analytical chemist and he was a business owner. I moved around in my career in the lab until I began to have some health issues.

At the point that my health issues caused a need for major neck surgery, Arlie suggested we move back home where family and friends would be around to help me recover. So, here we are. We have been back here since 2007 and it's great. Arlie actually says he would never move back to a bigger city type area again.

We also have Allie Nicole Pierce, 8, and Riley Vansickle, 4, our grandchildren, nearby. There is nothing better than being a grandparent! Oh, and I have to mention that Allie made the 3rd grade honor roll for Mrs. Larissa Goshen's class at Jackson Township, with 9 A's!! She's a great teacher!

So, like I said, I am exited to be given the opportunity to blog here and I want to make it about things that are of interest to our community. Most everybody knows everybody else around here and I want to make it about people you know and see all the time. Also businesses and things to do. I am open to suggestions.

Simply comment at the end of any of my blogs if you have a subject or topic for the blog. I will appreciate it and cover it as soon as possible. Also, please comment on the blogs, or leave questions, and it can be an ongoing "conversation".
