Some of Santa's helpers plan to pack more than 800 parcels of food this Friday
Christmas Delivery 2019 for the kids is complicated, as most of what we do is because we make it up as we go along and our community helps us figure it out!
Anyone can show up to help pack bags for the kids on Friday, 12/20/19, at 6 pm at the 4-H Fairgrounds.
If you have signed up to help deliver on Saturday, 12/21/19, we need you to be there and check-in and get your delivery information by 9:30 a.m. unless you came to pack food bags on Friday and got your delivery information then. You would simply need to check in on Saturday so we know you made it there.
We still need help loading food into vehicles. You need to be able to bend over and lift up to 25 pounds. Tammy Kikta is coordinating this part of the puzzle for us. Let her or us know if you or your group can help.
Doug Barr has the food pickup up coordinated with some wonderful volunteers on Friday. Thank you all! We also have a fork truck lined up to load the food thanks to Justin Wilson and Earl Hutcheson! Food will get to the Fairground from Save A Lot, thanks to Roy Kellar Troy Page Cathi Cepek Rick Burger, Matt Clodfelter Duke Energy
We will also have an “on-call” list on Saturday. You can sign up when you check-in for delivery. The “on-call” list is for those volunteers who can help deliver food to the kids after Christmas Delivery is over. Delivery is for the families who did not know about the Delivery or their forms got lost between filing them out and giving to a child to return to a school who had to get them to a teacher, who had to get them to a secretary, who had to get them to us. It happens. You can sign up upon check-in and may not be contacted, but we do need a few “on-call” people. We delivered to 28 families last year after Christmas Delivery 2018.
We also need a few friends to help us after everyone has left the 4-H Fairgrounds for delivery on 12/21/19. We estimate the amount of food we will need, so we always have a bit left over that needs to be taken to First Baptist Church and it will be delivered to those who contact us after delivery. We also need a few friends to stay behind and help us clean up the Fairgrounds.
So? Whatever you can help with or do? Please let us know. We are sure we will get this done together.
As of 12/15/19, we have 339 families and 883 children to delivery to on 12/21/19.
