Shoemaker on the DL; record-breaking efforts in H.S. football around the state Former Northview and Indiana State standout Brady Shoemaker has overcome a slow start after being promoted to the Chicago White Sox Class A Advanced Caroline League team at Winston-Salem. Shoemaker had boosted his batting average to a solid .273 by going 10-of-32 over a 10-game span from Aug. 6-15. However, Shoemaker suffered an oblique strain that landed him on the 7-day Disabled List effective on Aug. 16. He's eligible to come off the DL on Aug. 23...
Does Kiel's commitment make IU football relevant? Several years down the road, July 27, 2011 might just be the day that IU football started to become relevant. For on that day, the quarterback that most recruiting analysts regard as the best in the nation, spurned nearly every top football program in the nation to become a Hoosier...

IU signee Cody Zeller displays talents at McDonald's All-American Game If you are a fan of Indiana basketball, whether it be high school or the Hoosiers, you had to enjoy what you saw at the McDonald's All-American Game earlier in the week. Plenty of top talent on display at hoops regional held at Hinkle Fieldhouse It's not often that I get the opportunity to sit back and just soak in a high school basketball game, but on Saturday I took the opportunity to do just that and get a look at some potential Indiana University recruiting targets in the meantime. With the Hoosiers' disappointing season thankfully in the rearviewmirror, a look at a bright future provided a bit of solace as I attended the Region 3 semifinal at Hinkle Fieldhouse...

Olney fell behind 17-3 over the first four minutes of the game and actually fought back to take a 27-27 lead at halftime. Hoosier recruits excelling during prep basketball seasons With the Indiana Hoosiers' basketball team back on track this season, despite a less than daunting schedule, there are plenty of reasons to pay extra attention to IU during the holiday season. One of the more entertaining facets if you're a stats/recruiting dork like myself, is to follow some of the Hoosiers' commitments and targets as many of them are Indiana High School athletes...
IU taps national power for new football coach Congratulations to Indiana University and to Athletic Director Fred Glass for finally making a commitment to the football program. The Hoosiers opened up the checkbooks and hired Oklahoma offensive co-ordinator Kevin Wilson for $1.2 million annually. In case you are keeping stats, that's approximately a cool million dollars more than what Bill Lynch was making as a base salary for the Hoosiers. No offense to Lynch, who is the consummate nice guy, but IU got what they paid for while he was here...
