A familiar face:
Ivy Jacobs returns to The Brazil Times
Times Staff Report
There's a familiar face at The Brazil Times.
Local resident Ivy Jacobs returns as a full-time reporter, filling the chair in the newsroom after Ernest Rollins' recent departure.
"Writing has been a life-long passion. I'm happy to be back and do what I love best," Jacobs said. "Looking forward to working with the community."
Jacobs left The Times in July 2011 to broaden her horizons.
"I got to see the world through some different perspectives," Jacobs said about the experience. "I think it has made me more aware of how valuable and important small-town life is. Clay County is a wonderful place to live and can become even better for future generations. It's going to be great getting involved again and sharing the stories about what makes Brazil so unique."
Jacobs will be covering political news, lifestyle, education and features along with many other topics within the community. She will also be writing her blog "Just Ask Me" on The Times website, along with continuing her own personal writing career as she prepares for the publication of a second novel.
"Work on my upcoming books might slow down a little bit now that I'm a reporter," Jacobs said. "But having a deadline and a set of goals are adrenaline rushes for me. I love the challenges it creates."
Jacobs also loves a lead on a good story.
She can be reached at The Brazil Times or by email at missivy1964@gmail.com.
"Can't wait to get started again," Jacobs said.
