I have gotten to the point where very little surprises me anymore.

The City of Brazil has decided to clean itself up and enforce ordinances which have basically been glazed over for, what it seems, the past couple decades.

That didn't surprise me. But the reaction has.

There has been a lot of backlash and complaints stemming from the enforcement, but the fact is, I hear almost every day how the city needs to be cleaned up.

Where is the continuity?

Some residents want the city to be better, but seemingly not at their expense.

During the last city council meeting, a resident said the city should have known what the laws were before issuing kennel permits.

This is true, however, shouldn't the people who applied for the licenses, not just for kennels but anything, have researched what it takes to receive the permit so it wouldn't come back to bite them?

I certainly think so.

The thing is, it is a two-way street. The blame cannot be put solely on the city because the ordinances are available for public view, not only on the city's website, but at city hall as well.

One thing about this that really irks me is the people who have 30 or more cats in their residence.

It can be tough enough to keep things clean and smelling nice with two or three cats, let alone 30. Also, it seems to me things would be very crowded with that many animals in a relatively small area.

But then again, I am a bit strange, so I could be wrong.

Point is, it is unrealistic to say it's fine to clean things up, but leave me alone.

You usually are never able to have it both ways.

Yes, the city should have kept track of things better over the years, but you can't fault them when they make the attempt.
