Rinse, wash, repeat

Posted Tuesday, April 29, 2008, at 8:56 PM

Change is stressful, and stress tends to lead to change.

There's going to be a lot of both in the next week or so.

I'm heading to a seminar, the paper is losing one reporter and replacing her with a new one, Loyalty Day and the Relay for Life event is this weekend then, to top it all off, the election is this upcoming Tuesday.

It puts a lot of thoughts in the mind, miles on my truck and wear and tear (and lack of sleep) on my body.

Thus is the life of a reporter.

Some weeks we struggle to find anything decent to write about, others are so jam-packed that even more stress comes from trying to figure out how to get everything done.

Like life, it runs up and down constantly, never in a straight line.

You find a moment to take a deep breath, but make sure you don't because you know five more things may be coming at you.

Add bills, rising gas prices and annoying e-mails asking for your vote or to help make calls to sway other voters and next thing you know, you're passed out from exhaustion in front of the TV watching infomercials.

I usually stay up to watch it just for a few laughs at how corny they can be.

I find it as a nice way to clear the mind and prepare for the next barrage of who-knows-what.
