Each year, thousands of laws are passed throughout the United States.

However, some of the laws don't apply to modern times while others are just wacky, but they remain law today.

Here are some unusual laws from around our great nation:

* No person within the city of Mobile, Ala., may possess confetti,

* In Mohave Co., Ariz., a decree declares that anyone caught stealing soap must wash himself with it until it is all used up,

* In Eureka, Calif., men who wear moustaches are forbidden from kissing women,

* In Hollywood, Calif., It is illegal to drive more than 2,000 sheep down Hollywood Boulevard at one time,

* In Los Angeles, it is illegal to cry on the witness stand,

* In San Francisco, persons classified as "ugly" may not walk down any street,

* In Connecticut, in order for a pickle to officially be considered a pickle, it must bounce,

* In New Britain, Conn., it is illegal for fire trucks to exceed 25 mph, even when going to a fire,

* In Texas, the entire Encyclopedia Britannica is banned because it contains a formula for making beer at home, and

* In Colorado, it is illegal to ride a horse while under the influence.

There are many sites on the Internet to find unique laws like these. Most of these laws are just plain funny and are good for a quick laugh.

The majority of this list came from www.dumblaws.com.

I wonder who is deemed ulgy in San Fransico? I may want to avoid it until I see who is in authority ;>

It gets worse...when I lived in North Carolina one law read that any husband could go by his wife's place of employment on pay day and collect her paycheck but the wife could not do the same. In addition if two were to get married, any property owned by the woman was immediately now owned jointly by both husband and wife but any property owned by the man was still solely the man's. He was also permitted inside voting booth with his wife to "help" her vote.

More than dumb, actual violation of today's civil rights laws. Hopefully it has changed since we moved from there. It was about 20 years ago.

In Cincinnati, Ohio, a woman cannot get a divorce from her husband without his consent. That includes marriages with abuse and sexual molestation of the children. They can only get divorced without contest if the husband if imprisoned for a felony pertaining to the wife.

It's 2008! When will Ohio figure this out?!!! Lol!
