Back to the time when I was 5Posted Monday, March 23, 2009, at 2:08 PM
One of the many games I look forward to playing again: The Legend of Zelda.
A few months ago, a place opened up called Disc Replay where they sell used games and movies, which I tend to visit on occasion to see what hidden treasures I might find. For me, one of the exciting aspects of Disc Replay is the presence of what many people would consider "classic" game systems like the Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari and Intellivision. To my surprise there is a new console out, called the Retro Entertainment System, which allows you to play your old NES games, should you still have them. If not, that's OK because they have quite a slew of them to purchase. Needless to say, I was 5-years-old again and just had to have it, and at about $25, I just couldn't pass it up. Now I am fairly sure all my old games are at my parents' house somewhere in a shoebox, but I picked up a few games to hold me over on that off chance they kept them around. The first one I nabbed was Spy Vs. Spy, followed by Rampage and an old sports favorite of mine, Bases Loaded. After perusing the store some more and picking up a movie, I realized I fell into their promotion of "Buy any five items, get one free." So I went back to the case with the NES games scouring for something I was sure wouldn't be in that old shoebox. However, nothing really spoke to me and I decided to pick up the Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt combo that I knew I used to have, but chances are its gaming days are over. Now all I have to do is see if the shoebox still resides back home and try to get those wonderful memories of my childhood back in my possession for a little fun and relaxation.
