Imagine if you will ... the world of the oxymoronPosted Monday, June 21, 2010, at 3:08 PM
Yes Mr. Monkey, it really does not make sense.
All about nothing. Sure, I could sit here and write some long diatribe about who knows what citing this person or that person as a reference, but in the end, there's no real meaning behind it. These blogs are mainly "Mad Rantings" about anything and everything -- hence the reason I named my blog what I did. Remember blog equals opinion. As a news reporter, I sometimes wonder what the point is of writing a blog for our site, considering we are a place for news articles. Also, what is the value of a reporter's opinion? We are compensated to construct factual stories, while making them interesting and ignoring our own personal feelings in the matters at the same time. Can you imagine how difficult it is to write an article about a domestic abuser, a tax increase, educational budget cuts or a bad call determining the outcome of an athletic event without letting our opinion slip through? But alas, that is what we do. I'm no expert in religion or the Bible, but I know there is a passage in there somewhere that states, "the truth will set you free," or some variation of that depending on which version of the Bible you follow. Ironically, the truth always leads me back to this computer day after day, and week after week my opinion on something must appear on this portion of our site. Think about it, a reporter who must write the truth in one vein, must also blabber on about something in another. Doesn't that sound like a premise for Seinfeld? But then again, this is real life, but yet you're here, on a news site, reading a reporter's opinion. Maybe irony is the circle of life, or maybe life is just a massively extended episode of The Twilight Zone. Is your head spinning yet? Perhaps instead of the monkey you should have put a picture of Rod Serling?
