The fall television season that is.

I try not to watch too much television, but there are some shows on that I currently enjoy.

One, however, was let go.

I'm looking forward to the second season of Heroes, arguably the best newby on television last season.

The first season of the show brought comic book-like adventure to television. It was exciting. I watched the first half of the season while it was on, but couldn't watch the second half. So I recently bought the season on DVD and am attempting to get through it before Sept. 24, the season debut.

CSI: Miami is another one of those great shows. However, I like it for different reasons. I've never been a big fan of David Caruso, but the talent surrounding him on this show make it worthwhile.

The second season of Shark, the lawyer drama featuring James Woods, one of the best actors ever to grace the screen, begins on Sept. 23. This show wouldn't be on if it weren't for him. He is a true genious.

The one show that should be back this season that isn't -- and that is a true shame -- is Jericho.

The first season of the apocalyptic drama sucked me in last year. I remember sitting at my house last year, preparing for an evening with the tube.

Jericho came on and I was blown away. I couldn't believe the storyline. What great acting. What a great show. From week to week, it kept you guessing. It kept you wanting more.

But, CBS executives, for some reason, decided it wasn't worth saving.

Jericho's numbers were stellar in the first half of the season. However, a two-month hiatus, which should not have been granted, damaged the show severely.

Still, it did well stacked up against a piece of junk reality show (American Idol).

But, loyal fans (yours truly being one of them) sent peanuts, letters, e-mails and whatever we could to those executives begging them to bring the show back.

The show will be brought back as a midseason replacement with the hope that if it does well in no more than eight episodes, it will be back again.

In reality, fans of the show no this is a joke. CBS really has no reason to bring this show back and that is a shame.

CBS executives stated last season they wanted to get away from "serial drama." So what do they do? They bring in a show called Cane, featuring Jimmy Smits.

He's a good actor, but this is pure sugar "serial drama" (pun intended).

They also brought in a show about a vampire. Hmm, the last time I remember a prime time vampire show being on television doing well? Well, never really.

Great jobs guys.

You take a show with only one season under its belt that ranked in the top 50 all season off the air and bring in two "serial dramas."

Way to go. Bravo. Can't wait.

At least I can watch Law and Order: Criminal Intent and Monk on USA.
