Sure, I believe I can do many things well, but nothing spectacular. I don't have the necessary patience to be an expert at any one thing.

Still, it amazes me.

What is "it" you may ask?

"It" is anything.

Take for example a conversation I had with The Brazil Times' Sports Editor Carey Fox just Monday evening.

He and I were discussing the passion of running and what it truly takes to be a good runner.

Carey had been working on a story regarding dwindling numbers in the Clay County high school cross country program.

He ventured to watch both North Clay and Clay City Middle Schools run Monday and witnessed a former state champion running the course prior to the kids.

He saw Curt Carey running the local course.

Curt Carey won a state title while running for Owen Valley. He's in his 40s now, but runs possibly better than he did back then.

And why, you may ask? Because he has that passion.

I went to the same school Curt Carey went to. His banner hangs proudly in the Owen Valley High School gymnasium, a reminder of what he accomplished.

I never really knew him, but did graduate with his sister.

Still, I know how much passion he has. For running.

I have seen him on roads running. I have heard the stories. His passion runs deep.

I can only wish my passion for anything was equal.
