Small Wish ListPosted Thursday, December 18, 2008, at 10:01 AM
A small Christmas wish list, in no particular order:
I wish the Colts make the NFL playoffs this year. It would not be a pretty winter in the household otherwise. I wish the weather would calm down. Cold temperatures are fine, but hopefully, we've seen the end of the icy conditions. I wish football remember that Sammy Baugh was the first "great" quarterback in professional football. Baugh died Wednesday at the age of 94. He threw six touchdowns in a game twice in addition to kicking an 85-yard punt. Baugh also led the league one season in passing, interceptions and punting. In one single game, Baugh threw four touchdowns and intercepted four as well. He played with the Redskins from 1937-52 and was the last surviving member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame's inaugural class. I wish baseball fans take time out during the next few days to remember Dave Smith, one-time Houston Astros reliever. Smith, a former All-Star, died Wednesday as well at the age of 53, possibly from a heart attack. In his 13-year career, he saved 216 games, 199 of which came in a Houston uniform, still a team record. I wish people will give the Indiana Pacers a break, including myself. Honestly, I'm starting to enjoy reading about them again. Danny Granger is a star in the making. I wish my Minnesota Vikings continue playing well and finally make the playoffs. Adrian Peterson for MVP! I wish I could watch the nightly news just once during a week span and not hear anything about the economy and how terrible it is. Come on, people, it's Christmas. Let's have a good time. Let's enjoy the season. Don't fill everyone with blah! UPDATE TO LIST: I wish that celebrities would stop being ignorant. Apparently, Scarlett Johansson put a used tissue on eBay for sale. According to reports, Johansson recently became sick while filming the movie, "The Spirit." She felt her illness had "value(?)." She said she hoped to raise the money for the hunger relief charity USA Harvest. NBC "Tonight" show host Jay Leno handed her a tissue and she blew. Twice. After posting the tissue on eBay, 60 bids were on it by Thursday, with the highest coming in at $2,050. There are, in fact, a lot of idiots out there, including celebrities. Honestly. I agree with 90 percent of this one Jason. Especially with the whole celebrity issue. When is everyone going to realize there toliet smells no different the the other persons. On the other hand I'd much rather see the Vikings make the playoffs than the bears. Oh by the way my wish list.....For the packers to play like there capable of:-(
Well, you got your one wish of the Colts making it to the playoffs. It was certainly a close one though last Thursday night. Why do they insist of giving me an ulcer though? :)
Happy Holidays!
I agree Jason. There are too many times that I catch myself watching shows like 7th Heaven, Touched by an Angel, Extreme Makeover Home Edition, etc. Just to have a "good" cry. You know the one where you are truely thankful for your life and the kindness and goodwill of mankind. There needs to be more stories like these on the nightly news to inspire us all instead of the "blah" news that we get all to frequently.
