Who comes up with this stuff anyway?Posted Monday, August 9, 2010, at 1:50 PM
It was 8:30 p.m., Saturday, and I was ready to lay down.
To be honest, I'm not sure if that is a bad sign or not. But needless to say, Saturday had been a busy day. I had spent the better part of the afternoon recording bass and vocal tracks for a song at a friend's home. From there, I went home and Merry and I had dinner. Then came 8:30 p.m. The dogs had been walked. It was getting dark. I had been up since before 6 a.m. I was tired. So I went into the bedroom, laid down and started watching "Tombstone," with Kurt Russell and Val Kilmer. What a great movie. But still, my eyes were getting droopy. Then, Merry came in. She had tied a needle to some thread and asked me to hold the threaded needle just above her stomach. As I did this, she kept asking me if the needle was spinning back and forth or in a circular motion. It seemed to be spinning back and forth. I couldn't help but think, "What in the world am I doing? What is the purpose of this?" After the exercise was done, Merry informed me that we were going to have a boy. Really, I thought. Based off this? She said it was an old superstition. If the threaded needle spins back and forth, you're going to have a boy. If it moves in a circular motion, you're going to have a girl. This seemed (and still seems) rather strange to me. I still think jellybean is a girl. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Jason: We already know that we're both Cincinatti Reds fans and now I find out that you're a fan of the movie Tombstone. It's actually one of my favorite movies. Great job by Val Kilmer as Doc Holiday. You should "google" Curly Bill Brosious and Johnny Ringo sometime as they both have ties to Indiana. Curly Bill was actually from Crawfordsville originally, and I believe Johnny Ringo was from Richmond Indiana.Check it out sometime,it's historically very interesting to read. GO REDS!!!
I once heard about an OB/Gyn who told his patients that he could predict the gender of their child. His trick was that he told them one thing and wrote the opposite in their chart. If they came back and told him he was wrong, he would just show them the chart and say that he had written it down and they must have not heard him correctly. [lol]...Without modern diagnostics, no one knows. Some surprises in life well worth waiting for.
