The crazy season

Posted Monday, September 20, 2010, at 8:07 PM

Call me a cynic, but these are not surprising at all.

Recent news in the political world has me snickering. I honestly can't help it.

I find most of it laughable.

Apparently, the First Family was spotted going to church this past weekend. A photo of the family found its way across the news wave.

Interestingly, many questioned our president's faith in recent weeks. In fact, a poll came out about two weeks ago that stated most Americans believed our president was of the Muslim faith.

This despite repeated claims -- from the president nonetheless -- that he is of the Christian faith.

Then this comes.

Monday evening, Glenn Beck suggested on his Fox News broadcast that the president was "motivated to go to church by the 8/28 rally."

The point has now been proven. No matter what this current president does, it will never be good enough.

I guess at this point, it should be noted that the following presidents had no affiliation to a church: Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, Andrew Johnson, Ulysses Grant, Rutherford Hayes and Barack Obama.

Staying on the political landscape, talk show host Bill Maher recently unveiled 10-year-old footage of Christine O'Donnell, who won the Delaware Republican Senate Primary last week.

This footage showed O'Donnell in 1999 on Maher's show "Politically Incorrect," saying she had "dabbled in witchcraft, but had never joined a coven."

Thank goodness(.)(?)

My immediate response to this is, who cares?

She won her primary, will face election in November for the possible chance to serve as a Senator for Delaware.

If voters have faith in her to serve them well, she'll win. If not, she won't.

Seems pretty simple to me.

This time of year is indeed, insane.

And think of this, there is still one full month and a handful of days of this insanity before elections.

Clay County Guy:

You hit the nail on the head.

It just amazes me how much of the current media, has adopted reporting styles that used to be reserved for the National Enquirer.

It also amazes me how no matter if a candidate is a Republican or Democrat, the other side will quickly dig until they find dirt on that person and make it an issue, even if it were 20 years ago or more. If we were to elect only saints, all houses of government would be empty. Sure, I don't want to elect a child-molester or tax cheater, but give me a break.

And someone's religious beliefs shouldn't matter either. But I also don't believe that President Obama didn't realize that he would be photographed going to church. It works both ways.

The only thing I have to say about Glen Beck is how does he land a job on a network that claims to be "Fair and Balanced"? He is neither, and neither is the network. MSNBC may be liberal in their slant, but they don't claim to be "Fair and Balanced". MSNBC gives conservatives more air-time than Fox News gives liberals, so who is more "Fair and Balanced"?
