It's not too late, is it?Posted Monday, September 27, 2010, at 8:51 PM
Is it too late to change my NFL picks?
Those of you who remember when I covered sports for The Brazil Times know quite well I have never been good at predictions.
Before the NFL season began, I predicted a Super Bowl featuring the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings.
While it still could happen, I'm having doubts.
The Philadelphia Eagles have looked great so far while New Orleans, Atlanta, Green Bay and Chicago are off to hot starts.
Granted, I wrote this before the Packers and Bears played Monday evening, but both teams have a lead over my Vikings at this point.
One thing is for sure: Brett Favre has not clicked with his receivers at this point and I'm thinking that's because he didn't go to training camp.
Perhaps if he had spent time throwing with his receivers in the off-season rather than to high school players, he might have had better chemistry out of the gate.
But the season is early.
I was speaking to a friend recently who jokingly asked about Minnesota's 0-2 start.
I told him I wasn't too worried. If they started 0-3 or 0-4, I'd be worried.
But 0-2? Nah. Plenty of teams have made the playoffs after an 0-2 start.
But this team has got problems.
Still, that defense is very good and Adrian Peterson is arguably one of the, if not the, best running back in the league.
I think Favre will hit it in stride with the receivers sooner than later.
At least, hopefully.
If not, it could be a long season.
