Strange Days, indeedPosted Wednesday, November 10, 2010, at 2:27 PM
As I was sifting through numerous papers and websites at work Wednesday, for some reason, a John Lennon song popped into my head.
"Nobody told me there'd be days like these. Strange days indeed -- most peculiar mama" -- From "Nobody Told Me." For the last few weeks, our world has completely changed. James David Miller Moon was born Oct. 15. In a matter of days, he will be a month old. Needless to say, the sleepless nights are taking place more and more as the days slip by. But more for Merry and not for me. I have been told that I can sleep through a tornado or hurricane. My sleeping habits are ringing true with the baby as well. There have been many nights where I don't hear James David crying. He has a powerful set of lungs, which he must take after his father. I have sang in numerous bands for several years. Perhaps James David will be a singer like his old man. Who knows? Anyway, many early mornings, I'll find myself waking up to the sound of barking dogs. Their schedules have been flipped upside down as well as they are now waking up to eat breakfast anytime between 3-5 a.m. For a couple of years, I have gotten used to hearing the dogs scurrying about in their crates. Or sometimes, they'll just let out some barks to let us know they're awake and ready to eat. Their sounds are embedded in my brain. James David? Not quite yet. For Merry's sake, I hope I can start waking up in the middle of the night to take care of him. If not, I may soon find myself in one of those crates. "Nobody told there'd be days like these." Strange days, indeed. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |
