The last laugh for ... Costner?

Posted Monday, February 6, 2012, at 5:38 PM

Kevin Costner may have the last laugh.

Many people have said they believe Costner's film career started a nose dive when he made, "Waterworld."

I actually thought the film was really neat. I loved the idea of people living off the sea, with no idea dry land may exist. People traveled from one place to another, trading goods in order to survive.

I hope they all liked fish for dinner.

But, according to many, this film was the beginning of the end of Costner's leading man days.

But since that film, he went on to make "Tin Cup," "The Postman," "For Love of the Game," "Thirteen Days," "Open Range" and many more films.

Sure, he may not be as big of a box office draw as he used to be, but all the work and creativity that went into "Waterworld," has appeared to rub off a few people.

A think-tank in California recently announced it is working on sustainable cities in the oceans.

According to the company, the Seasteading Institute, it believes the floating cities will create happiness in societies.

They believe the cities could be up and running in 30 years.

If you remember, the people who lived in these places in the Costner film didn't all get along.

I'm not sure this think-tank has thought this through all that well.
