Chicken and controversy?Posted Monday, July 30, 2012, at 1:34 PM
I'll be the first one to admit, I've been known, from time to time, to criticize the likes of Sarah Palin.
But with this piece, I decided to defend her. Sort of. Recently, Palin posted a photo online of herself and her husband, Todd, stopping by a Chick-fil-A. With the photo, she wrote, "Stopped by a Chick-fil-A in The Woodlands to support a great business." The restaurant chain came under fire recently after its founder, Dan Cathy, voiced his opinion regarding marriage, basically saying it should only be between a man and woman. After Palin released the photo, news agencies across the globe decided it was worth covering. CNN, in particular, added some spice to its report. During the weekend, as a CNN anchor teased the report with, "Sarah Palin is apparently hungry for chicken and controversy," the news network played Pink's song, "Stupid Girls," in the background. One day after the coverage, the company released a statement to online news organization Mediaite, stating "the music selection was a poor choice and was not intended to be linked to any news story. We regret any perception that they were planned together." Bull. What I've noticed in the past is major news networks enjoy taunting Palin with items like this. Yes, I said taunting. These agencies know very well she can't sit still. She will eventually have something to say. While I don't agree with Palin and her beliefs, that doesn't mean I believe she should be publicly ridiculed, especially in this fashion. And that is exactly what was intended here. On the flip side, Palin is very clever. She knew news agencies would take to this like a mouse takes to peanut butter. She knew they'd take the bait. They did, giving her every reason to pounce on them. Honestly, does anybody really care that the Palins ate at Chick-fil-A? Just let her and her family eat in peace. Who knows, maybe they like Chick-fil-A. Who really cares. Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Glad to see that you finally got on board. They have used her as their editorial punching bag. Remember the tragic shooting in AZ? She did not "target" any people. She targeted congressional districts.
Remember Tina Fey? There are many people who attribute her quote, "I can see Russia from my home", to Sarah.
The libs fear her, so they vilify her. No other reason.
A hen house, also called a chicken coop, is a great project that you and your family can take on. On the Internet, there are hundreds of chicken coop plans that you can choose from. It makes things easy but nothing replaces the joy of designing your own. One benefit of modeling your own coop is the reduced cost. Although buying structural plans saves you time, designing your own allows you to exercise flexibility.
