Homecoming

This weekend is Butler University's homecoming, and I couldn't be more thrilled to be attending for the first time as alumna.
I'm meeting with my sorority sisters that I graduated with for the traditional breakfast, and then we're tailgating for the football game and watching the parade. We'll cheer on this year's representative for our house, and decide who had the best float.
But best of all this year, Butler's football team is … gulp … good! There, I just jinxed us.
The Bulldogs, who have been beyond awful since they stopped giving football scholarships in the mid-80s, are a very surprising 4-0. The last time they started 4-0 was in 1991. I was 6 years old. Every year at the Butler Bowl there's a crowd… until half time, when King and Queen are announced, and everyone leaves to take a nap. This year's game is worth watching, though. Butler's taking on San Diego University, one of the three undefeated teams left in the Pioneer Football League. This is the first league game for both schools. San Diego, 3-0, is a D 1-AA powerhouse and perennial championship favorite. This is the 15th time the teams will meet, and the Toreros lead the series 10-4. Now, usually the best part of playing San Diego is the team trip to California and beach time. But, with the Toreros coming to Indy, the best part may be the top spot in the PFL
GO BULLDOGS!!!
Monday Update: So, the Toreros won 56-9. It was ugly. I jinxed my Bulldogs. But I wouldn't change a single part of my weekend. Homecoming was wonderful win. lose or draw.
And I still have basketball season! Comments Showing comments in chronological order [Show most recent comments first] |

Ouch! Yeah, I know all about the jinx...don't dare wear my Michigan State gear the day of a big game...day before...day after but NEVER day of! Still a good season potentially for the 'Dogs. And, yes, there's always basketball. Anyway, welcome! I appreciate you bringing a fresh perspective to things around here...much needed! Good luck & God bless!
