Jackson Township Elementary student Carmen Schleppy was honored as a Riley Hospital Champion sponsored by Kroger Friday.

Carmen was presented with a proclamation and the key to the city of Brazil on Friday at Jackson Township Elementary.

Carmen was presented with a banner from Riley Hospital in honor of her being a Riley Champion. Presenting the banner were Jackson Township Principal Jeff Fritz (left) and Riley Special Projects Officer Cassie Martin.

Carmen Schleppy addressed the crowd at Jackson Township Elementary with her family by her side including (from left) her mother Colleen, brother Donovan and father Anthony.

Carmen was presented with a cake and flowers on behalf of Riley Hospital and Brazil Kroger.

Brazil Mayor Brian Wyndham declared Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, to be Carmen Schleppy Day in the city of Brazil. He presented Schleppy with a proclamation and a key to the city of Brazil.
