1839- CLAY COUNTY’S FIRST SEMINARYLocated in Bowling Green, the course of study was much like current High Schools and prepared students for college. In 1852 a law was passed wherein all county seminaries were to be closed. This was purchased by the town of Bowling Green and ran in the same manner by private subscriptions from parents wishing to have their children prepared for college.After a few years and a lack of interest, it was closed and turned into a residence.

Lambert Street School was located at Church & Lambert Streets. This school was the first school built after Brazil was incorporated, built in 1875 and was still in use as an elementary school after the high school was built. Later Brazil High School’s Keller Field was located on part of this former school site.
