Rotary helps foreign community (02/27/04)
The Brazil chapter of the Rotary Club, after a presentation two weeks ago, has put back $2,000 to aid a small community in El Salvador. Through Companion Community Development Alternatives, or CoCoDa, Rotary's donation will help the community, Aguacayo, attain a stable water source. The community lost its water pump during the Salvadorian Civil War, and has not had the means to restore it since...

Charles "Bill" Meyer, 69, of Brazil, died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2004, at 5 a.m. in the emergency room of St. Vincent Clay Hospital. He was born May 10, 1934, in Clay County, the son of Alton and Elsie Pell Meyer. He graduated from Van Buren High School Class of 1952. James R. Sinders, 88, of Clay City, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004, at the home of his son Estel Sinders. He was born Aug. 24, 1915, to Levi and Nancy Duncan Sinders. On Sept. 15, 1937, he married Agnes Horton Sinders; she survives. He was a farmer in Clay County all his working years. The family raised livestock as well as grain.
