VX destruction ready to resume at Newport (06/20/05)
NEWPORT, Ind. (AP) -- Workers at the Newport Chemical Agency Disposal Facility plan to resume destroying a stockpile of deadly VX nerve agent this week after reviewing lessons learned from the first five weeks of operations. On Tuesday, the Brazil City Fire Department will join thousands of fire departments across the United States in a National Firefighter Safety Stand Down. The department will suspend all non-emergency activity and instead focus entirely on firefighter safety.
