Falling interest rates affecting county funds (01/29/09)
Interest rates are falling across the board, affecting not only residents but local governments as well. In a recent meeting of the Clay County Board of Finance, Clay County Treasurer Debbie James said rates have dropped into the basement. "In 2007, the average rate on the county's investments was 5 percent, and in 2008, it was down to 2.87 during the course of the year," James told The Brazil Times Thursday. "However in December, the rate was down to 0.67 percent."...
Northview basketball games still scheduled for Friday night (01/29/09)
Though Clay Community Schools have canceled school for Friday, the Homecoming basketball games between the Northview girls and boys and Sullivan are still scheduled for a 6 p.m. tip-off. Homecoming festivities are slated to take place between games.
