Kenneth O. Hood, 83, Brazil, died Aug. 1, 2012, at St. Vincent Clay Hospital following difficulties after surgery. Ken was born in Carbon, Ind., Dec. 27, 1928, the son of Fred O. and Cynthia (Pell) Hood. He graduated from Van Buren High School with the class of 1946. New Trashcans

Brazil Main Street, Inc., has placed 18 trash barrels along sidewalks in downtown Brazil. Ten of the trashcans are sponsored by area businesses and include decals on the sides, advertising their business. However, eight more barrels need sponsors. The cost to sponsor a barrel is $150.
