Peniel United Methodist Church
(Local News ~ 09/21/13)
Only 30 days this month, but still, we have five Sundays! Seems unusual to me. Our scripture for this Sunday is from St. Luke 18:9-14. Pastor Pippin's message is titled, "The Sin of Pride." Our greeting for the day is inspirational -- it begins, "We are here to acknowledge God, remember our heritage and give ourselves to being the people God intends."...

To the Editor: The Clay Community Skatepark is "up and running." There are youth skating or biking on it daily. At times, there are 30 skaters and bikers using the skatepark. The youth are enjoying the skatepark, keeping it well picked up, showing respect to each other, and helping young skaters and bikers learn how to engage in these extreme sports...

Final resting place disturbed
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/21/13)
To the Editor: To whom it may concern: I am composing this letter to let the family of Mr. Frank Burnett, who is buried out at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, that his headstone has been turned over off of the platform. I know if this was my father's final resting place and it had been disturbed, that I would want to know who had done it and have it rectified as soon as possible...

Some concerns over trainers
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/21/13)
To the Editor: Having read the article concerning Northview and Clay City with athletic trainers, I have some concerns. First of all, it seems from everything that I have heard and read, that Clay City wants to be treated equal. That should not be the case at all...

Reminder to lock up
(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/21/13)
To the Editor: A warning to anyone living from Murphy Avenue north of United States 40 to Vandalia Street: Lock up everything tight. A friend of mine and myself had the trucks ransacked. Yes, they were unlocked, but will never be again. The cigarettes were a given, but expensive prescription sunglasses, two little workman's buckets, a "fuzz" buster, a notary seal, a note book, what good are those items to them?...

(Letter to the Editor ~ 09/21/13)
To the Editor: Thank you again everyone for your generous donations to the Clay County Humane Shelter after the story that was in the Sept. 5, edition of The Brazil Times. We received much canned cat food and clumping cat litter as requested. However, we are getting low again partly due to taking in a mother cat with approximately five, 2-week-old kittens, four orphaned kittens approximately 3-weeks-old, plus some older, larger kittens...

Computers are people, too
(Column ~ 09/21/13)
The experience is something like leaving your firstborn child for their first day at nursery school. When people walk into Computer Central in Brazil they are greeted with a sign saying, "Set Sick Computer Here." People laugh when they see it. We had to put up the sign because folks would wander around caressing their "baby" and looking for a secure place to set it...
