Bump in the night leads to tiring day

I did not sleep well last night. I heard noises. Four-legged, five-year-old Tootie Mae heard them, too. The ticking and chiming sounds of the clocks were less than pleasurable to my ears. The furnace hummed, and the tub faucet dripped. When rest became tired of eluding me, the monotony gave way to a welcomed, short nap.
