Traffic congestion swelled in Brazil on Tuesday as motorists were diverted by both the U.S. 40 Project and a crash that damaged a fire hydrant and spewed water across one of the few remaining open intersections in that construction area. Motorists were diverted much of the day away from the intersection of U.S. 40/National Avenue and Depot Street where city workers repaired the hydrant damaged following a two-vehicle crash just before 6 a.m. No injuries were reported...

County Council approves $47K payroll correction

Sizable additional appropriations totaling more than $116,000, including $46,913 for a payroll correction, were unanimously approved by the Clay County Council Monday night. After the meeting, Clay County Auditor Jennifer Flater said the state-approved payroll correction was made for salaried employees who started after a first pay in January and had not been paid for each day they worked at the end of the year.
