Input sought on future of damaged veterans ‘Honor Roll’

Clay County Commissioner Paul Sinders reassured veterans Monday about the “Honor Roll” memorial building on the courthouse lawn that was damaged when a car ran into it recently. “We are trying to determine if the building is repairable, but we don’t think it is,” Sinders said. “This is going to be rebuilt or something done.”

Kimberly Montague, Brazil, was the first customer in The Brazil Times new offices at 531 E. National Avenue on Monday morning. She paid her paper bill. The Brazil Times opened its doors at the new location after more than 40 years on North Meridian Street.

New time capsule to be buried May 18

The City of Brazil will bury a bicentennial time capsule on the lawn of City Hall (203 E. National Ave.) at noon May 18. The time capsule is scheduled to be unearthed on Brazil’s bicentennial celebration on or around Oct. 1, 2066. The previous time capsule was built by Bill Vanes (Vanes Boiler Works). The new capsule was built by Bill Vane’s son, John Vanes, and Mark Ascheman, and was donated by PDF.
