Alice M. Schiebel, 84, of Knightsville, passed away August 19, 2017 at Cloverleaf Nursing Home with her family by her side. Alice was born June 11, 1933 in Brazil, the daughter of the late Clarence and Treva (Gray) Shepherd. She married the love of her life, Clarence ‘C.K.’ Schiebel, He preceded her in passing in 1989. County’s unemployment rate up slightly; much lower than a year ago

Clay County’s unemployment rate ticked slightly upward from June to July, a trend also seen at the state and national level, according to figures from the state’s Department of Workforce Development. The county’s non-seasonally adjusted rate of 3.7 percent in July was up from 3.3 percent in June. The rate is a full percentage point better than July of 2016, according to DWD data.
