Margaret A. Jenkins, 83 of Brazil, passed away March 20, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born August 13, 1935 in Clay County, the daughter of John Bemis and Ollie Lanham Bemis. On August 12, 1961 she was united in marriage with Jack Jenkins. He was devoted to her and they enjoyed taking trips, going out to eat and “anything mom wanted”. Clay City council readies road improvement plan

The Clay City Town Council met on Tuesday, March 5. Council members announced permits for work on the road improvement project will be in May, bids will be awarded after June and work will commence in August. The project has an estimated completion date of late Sept./early Oct.

Conservation awards made at 68th annual dinner

Four awards were presented at Tuesday’s annual meeting of the Clay County Soil & Water Conservation District at the 4-H Fairgrounds. The 2018 River Friendly Farmer Award went to Persinger Farms Inc. The award is co-sponsored by the Indiana Soil and Water Conservation District and Indiana Farm Bureau.
