Veteran Eels nip Eagles in opener

The South Putnam Eagle Boys’ basketball team opened up its season at home on Tuesday night with only two returnees from last year with much experience. The inexperience showed as the Eagles lost to a senior-laden Clay City squad, 58-44. The Eagles struggled offensively for a good portion of the game, but defensively got after the Eels and were able to limit their offensive weapons and stay close thru most of the game. ...

The 14-foot tall Christmas tree is once again the centerpiece, with more decorations throughout the rotunda. Four more trees represent the local elementary schools and are decorated with art by the students. Brazil man in custody on allegations of burglary

A report of a burglary lead detectives to two more potential cases in a recent investigation at the Brazil Police Department. Joshua M/ Lewicki, 36, of Brazil, was arrested on a warrant after fleeing from the Clay County Courthouse Wednesday.
