CCHS to explore suffrage at August meeting

The Clay County Historical Society will meet August 2 at 7 p.m. in the lower level of the museum. The guest speaker will be Cheryl Steuerwald, as the CCHS will be celebrating the 101st anniversary of Women’s Right to Vote. With Fourth of July event over, Rotary keeps planning

The Rotary Club of Brazil met for its regular club meeting on Wednesday, July 21st at Cilantros. Coming off of the excitement of a successful 4th of July Celebration, the club is hard at work already planning and discussing future events. The club awarded a $1,000 scholarship to Kaitlyn Anderson. Kaitlyn is a recent Northview High School graduate and will be attending Rose Hulman Institue of Technology in the fall. Last Friday, we enjoyed an outing with our daughter, Lori Ann Patrick, and our son-in-law Clifford. We had lunch at a Mexican restaurant and visited an antique mall and other little shops on main street in Noblesville. The stores were loaded with vintage items, antiques and other merchandise. I promised myself I would enjoy what I call “dry shop.” I saw a list on Facebook of 45 things to rid your home of- unnecessary clutter. I have almost all of that so-called outdated stuff...

Veterans Stronghold organized a benefit motorcycle and Jeep ride in support of Darrin E. Dant's family Saturday, July 24. Dant passed away earlier in July. The ride started at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1127, 303 South Depot Street, Brazil, at 11 a.m., with the Brazil Police Department leading the way. However, this benefit ride took a special detour to honor Dants' family. More than 50 vehicles turned north on Walnut Street to drive through their neighborhood before leaving for the ride...
