When Michael Byrum took over as Northview’s head boys basketball coach in 2017, he implemented a start-of-the-season event called ‘A Night Out with the Knights.’ The evening served as an intra-squad scrimmage for Northview’s high school junior varsity and varsity teams, as well as North Clay Middle School’s sixth, seventh and eighth grade teams, while giving them an opportunity to compete against each other in front of as many fans, which got through the doors without paying money but instead by donating liquid soap to the basketball programs or donating non-perishable food items to the Northview Weekend Backpack Program, as possible.. ...
